L'équipe suisse AXONRacing.ch annonce sa participation à la Little Cup
Benoît Morelle est très heureux d’annoncer l’engagement de son équipe suisse AXONRacing.ch dans la Little Cup 2015 et l’arrivée de Benoît Marie comme skipper. L’épreuve se déroulera à Genève du 6 au 20 Septembre 2015.
Genève, le 23 juin 2015 - L’équipe régatera à bord du légendaire Class-C “Cogito”, déjà vainqueur de cette épreuve en 1996 et 2004. La plateforme et l’aile sont actuellement en cours de développement aux Etats-Unis et Cogito arrivera à Genève fin prêt pour cette épreuve !
Responsable du projet, Benoît Morelle est bien connu sur les rives du Léman ainsi que sur les océans. Skipper du Psaros 40 axonproject.ch, 3ème du Bol d’Or Mirabaud la semaine passée il a, lors de sa carrière de marin, notamment remporté l’Admiral’s Cup, le Tour de France à la voile et d’innombrables autres régates parmi lesquelles une dizaine de grandes classiques lémaniques. « Etre inscrit à la Little Cup après deux ans de travail est une étape importante et symbolique », précise-t-il. « Notre objectif est d’être compétitif sur la ligne de départ au mois de septembre. Notre bateau a le plus beau palmarès de la flotte actuelle. Il est sain, rapide dans des conditions de vent légères, ce qui est un atout considérable pour les conditions de vent attendues sur le lac Léman. Je tiens tout particulièrement à remercier Denis Horeau d’Hydros, ainsi que Steve Clark, Président de la C-Class, pour leur soutien. »
Benoît Morelle a proposé à Benoît Marie de devenir skipper de Cogito. Originaire de Nantes, ce dernier est un marin très complet, par ailleurs ingénieur. Plus jeune barreur sur le Tour de France à la Voile en 2008, il a notamment remporté la Mini Transat 2013. « C'est pour moi un véritable honneur de naviguer sur ce catamaran légendaire, double vainqueur de l'épreuve et qui m'a tant fait rêver. C'est en connaissance de leurs performances que j'avais orienté le sujet de mes recherches sur les ailes rigides, lors d’un séjour en Nouvelle-Zélande », explique-t-il.
L’équipe AXONRacing.ch bénéfice dores et déjà du soutien de Forward WIP – Water Impact Protection (http://www.forward-wip.com/en/) et recherche activement à inclure d’autres partenaires dans cette magnifique aventure humaine.
Benoît Morelle et Benoît Marie unissent leur forces sur la Little Cup 2015. Ils ont effectué une première session d’entrainement aux Etats-Unis à la fin du mois de mai; une deuxième session est prévue en juillet. « C’est un peu l’histoire des deux Benoit sur un bateau, le premier connait le lac comme sa poche, le second est un mordu de technologie et de vitesse. L’un dira ou aller, quand l’autre s’assurera qu’on y aille à vitesse maximum », souligne Benoit Marie.

The Swiss team AXONRacing will compete in the Little Cup
Benoît Morelle is proud to announce that his Swiss team AXONRacing.ch will compete in the Little Cup 2015 in Geneva (September 6 -20, 2015). Benoît Marie will be the skipper of the boat.
The team will sail on board the legendary Class-C “Cogito”, winner in 1996 and 2004. Both the platform and the wing are currently being developed in the United States, and Cogito will be ready to compete in due time!
In charge of the project, Benoît Morelle is well known both around Lake Geneva and at sea. Last week, he finished third monohull of the Bol d’Or Mirabaud onboard the Psaros 40 axonproject.ch; during his career, he won amongst others the Admiral’s Cup, Tour de France à la voile and numerous other races including a dozen « classics » on Lake Geneva. « To be registered for the Little Cup after two years of hard work is an important and symbolic step », he said. « Our goal is to be competitive on the starting line in September. Our boat is beautiful and has achieved more than any other boat in the fleet. She is very reliable and efficient in the light wind conditions that can be expected on Lake Geneva. I want to thank Denis Horeau, from Hydros, and Steve Clark, the President of the C-Class, for their support. »
Benoît Morelle asked Benoît Marie to be Cogito’s skipper for the Little Cup. Born in Nantes, Marie is a very complete sailor and an engineer. He was the youngest helmsman in the Tour de France à la Voile 2008 and won amongst others the Mini Transat 2013. « It’s an honor for me to sail on this legendary boat », he says. « I’ve known her for ages, and she made me dream… I went to New Zealand to study rigid sails thinking about this specific boat, and knowing all about her achievements. »
The team AXONRacing.ch benefits from the support of Forward WIP – Water Impact Protection (http://www.forward-wip.com/en/) and is actively looking for a title partner.
Benoît Morelle and Benoît Marie jojn forces ahead of the Little Cup 2015. They already did an initial training session in the United States in May, and will fly back there to train more in July. « It is the story of the two Benoît on a boat », comments Benoît Marie: « One of them knows the lake as well as his pocket; the other one is fond of technology and speed. One will tell the other where to go whilst the other will make sure to get there as fast as possible! »
