Mexico. Baja Gold Coast property featured at Oceanfront exposition

The third major exposition for people wanting to buy oceanfront property along Baja's Gold Coast will be held Aug. 16 and 17 at the Rosarito Beach Hotel.

Forty developers, title and finance companies including ReMax Baja Realty and Stewart Title will participate in the free Investing in Baja's Oceanfront exposition. Thousands of properties priced from $129,000 to more than $1 million will be showcased.

"This is a perfect opportunity for people to purchase their American dream home south of the border," said IBO organizer Rafael Liceaga. "Oceanfront and view homes still are available here at a fraction of U.S. prices.

"And they can be purchased with total security as bank trusts, title insurance and even American-based financing is now available," he added.

The exposition will feature free daily information seminars on how to buy property in Baja, conducted by experts in the field. Hours are 10 until 6.

The IBO series is tied to the boom in which thousands of Americans are buying homes and property along Baja's western Gold Coast from Tijuana to Ensenada for retirement or vacation homes.

Some are also purchasing properties as investments as Baja home values are appreciating at an average of 30 percent per year, Liceaga said.

Because of high home prices in the U.S., an increasing number of American citizens are buying in Mexico and commuting back there to work. Rosarito includes about 14,000 expatriates among its 140,000 residents.

The demand for property has been so great that many of the 4,000 units now under construction have been pre-sold. Many offer world-class luxuries as well as stunning ocean views.

"We've got the same ocean and the same perfect climate as San Diego, but we offer homes at a fraction of the cost," Liceaga said.

The first IBO exposition, partly sponsored by the Mexican government, was held last October at the Rosarito Beach Hotel, and more than $35 million in property was purchased. The second was in May and a fourth is scheduled for October at the hotel.
