Two sport fishing boat charterers died, after the vessel they were on was in collision with another pleasure craft, near the mouth of the Tsurumi River, in Yokohama, on Sunday.

Three badly injured men, from a the charter party of eight, on the fishing boat, were taken to hospital, after the incident; two died later and the third is said to be in a serious condition.

A spokesman for the Japanese Coastguard said that an investigation was taking place; the vessels involved were being examined and the skippers questioned, to try to determine the cause of the accident. Despite the bad weather that has affected Japan, over the weekend, this does not appear to have been a factor, as wind conditions were described as “moderate”.
