Wednesday, 12 July 2006
Investors fishing to buy a championship golf real estate property may find the auction of the Links at Land's End Golf Club on August 10, 2006 the hole in one they seek. Tucked away in east Texas in a town called Yantis, the golf course meanders along Lake Fork, one of America's top bass fishing lakes. Owned by Las Vegas golf mogul Billy Walters of Walters Golf and Texan golf veteran Joe Munsch of Evergreen Alliance Golf Limited, the course is meticulously laid out and maintained. Eleven of the eighteen holes hug the marshy cattail shoreline, which is surrounded by wildlife including an abundant population of eagles.
"This 175 acre course plus the undeveloped villa lots included in the auction make this an ideal investment property. There are few residential properties in the country that offer the unique combination of world-class golfing, trophy bass fishing and luxury housing all in one spot-right in the heart of Texas. This is truly a real estate catch in commercial real estate," commented Hilda Allen, president, Hilda W. Allen Real Estate, Inc.
The Links at Land's End golf course, 14 undeveloped villa lots and two spec homes will be auctioned on Thursday, August 10, 2006 at 10:00am at the Omni Park West Hotel in Dallas, Texas. Hilda W. Allen Real Estate, Inc. and Hudson & Marshall of Texas Inc. will be conducting the auction. Interested buyers also may preview the property on July 12th and 13th at 10:00am. Links at Land's End is located 60 miles west of Tyler, Texas and 90 miles east of Dallas.
Golf and fishing collide in this east Texas oasis ideal for retiring baby boomers or folks just wanting a city retreat. The homes in this gated community, which sell on average for about $750,000 offer spectacular golf or lake views. The luxury waterfront villa lots overlook Hamilton Bay on Lake Fork and are the last development phase of the Links at Land's End.
Valued at about $5 million, the course was developed by golf architects Williams, Gills and Associates. Half the holes sit on a narrow peninsula filled with coves and bays while the eighth, ninth and 16th holes rest on narrow plots of land jutting dramatically into Lake Fork. In 2006, the Links at Land's End was ranked the 4th best golf course in the state by the Dallas Morning News. Even more noteworthy is the club's pro, Jackie Cupit who was part of the three-way 1963 US Open playoff where Julius Boros won and Arnold Palmer lost. Cupit's playoff score was three better than Palmer but the two were declared joint runners-up.
If all this isn't enough to make an investor see green, Lake Fork, the lake the course routes around is known as the best bass fishing lake in Texas and the nation. Opened in 1980, its underwater structure and vegetation make Lake Fork the perfect habitat for bass, crappie, catfish and bluegill. In 1992, a large mouth bass caught in the lake set the new state record weighing in at a whopping 18.18 pounds. For investors looking to hook a one of a kind real estate deal, the Links at Land's End property is the catch of the day.
