Thursday, 16 November 2006
The National Marine Electronics Association has announced the site of its 50th Year Anniversary Convention (2007) as the Amelia Island Plantation Resort, Amelia Island, Florida.
To be held October 17 – 20, the 2007 NMEA Convention & Expo’s theme will be a special celebration and recognition of the half-century anniversary of the National Marine Electronics Association.
“The 2007 NMEA Convention will be very special,” said Mark Young, NMEA’s Chairman. “We plan to recognize and celebrate how the NMEA has helped the development of marine electronics and the development of the industry of dealers, manufacturers and others. And we plan to recognize at least some of the people who devoted so much of their careers to the progress of marine electronics and our industry.”
Part of the 2007 NMEA Convention, he said, would also look to the future and highlight current initiatives, including a new emphasis on dealer training opportunities, member benefits and the continued development and world-wide adoption of the NMEA 2000 Standard. A special dealer education day, which was part of the 2006 NMEA Convention, was so successful that it will be continued in 2007, Young said.
Detailed convention information will be available in spring, 2007, on the website www.NMEA.org. However, hotel reservations may be made at anytime by contacting the Amelia Island Plantation Resort at 888-261-6161. The reference reservation code is 8AU46K or mention the National Marine Electronics Association. The resort’s web site is: www.aipfl.com.
