Palma Boat Show

Wednesday, 02 May 2018

The 35th Palma Boat Show drew to a satisfying close yesterday having welcomed over 35,000 guests.  With 300 boats in the water – 48% more than 2017 – and a brand new 72 metre floating bridge to enhance the visitor experience, exhibitors reacted well to the Show’s improvements with no less than 98% of them saying they would like to take part in the 2019 edition – including Multimar Alcudia

Dealers for Axopar, Europe’s fastest-growing boat brand, and exclusive dealers for Ukrainian-built GRAND inflatable boats for the whole of Spain, Multimar Alcudia marked five consecutive years exhibiting at the Show.  “For sure this has been the most lucrative Palma Boat Show to date for Multimar Alcudia,” said Sales Representative Teddy Torkington.

“Our stand is immediately in front of the main Cathedral entrance so our range of GRAND inflatables and Axopars is the first thing most visitors will see – to our huge advantage.  We upped the number of boats on show from five last year to seven this year, plus another two in the water, and by day three we had closed more sales than any other boat show in the last 12 months – and we do five shows a year.”

In truth, Teddy believes that Palma Boat Show is now on a par with Barcelona’s which has had quite some head start and enters its 57th year in 2018.  “Although Barcelona Boat Show is on a slightly larger scale, in terms of popularity and quality of visitor Palma almost seems better.  For the company to have sold three Axopars in excess of 100,000 euros and two Grands at 50,000 and 14,000 euros respectively by the Saturday morning was quite some feeling – with plenty more in the pipeline.”

Making an overall market debut in 2014, Finnish premium motorboat builder Axopar has already clocked up combined sales in excess of 1,000 units and has more than 500 orders already secured for 2018.  The mid-range Axopar 28, big sister to the 24 and little sister to the 37, had a facelift for 2018 and made its Spanish show debut at last weekend’s Palma Boat Show.  Stylish, fun, exhilarating to drive, fuel efficient and easy to maintain, the Axopar 28 is available in Open, T-Top and Cabin versions and can be secured for as little as 110,000 euros including tax.

Axopar’s new Brabus Shadow 800 also enjoyed a Spanish show debut having been unveiled as a world premiere at boot Düsseldorf in January.  Finished by the famous German automobile tuners, the Brabus Shadow 800 has twin 400hp Mercury engines and makes for a rather special superyacht tender.

Meanwhile, GRAND inflatable boats offer a high quality build at surprisingly competitive prices, with the GRAND 340 clocking in at around 14,000 euros with a 25hp Mercury on the back and the GRAND 850 just 110,000 euros for a 12-man boat with a powerful 300hp engine – tax included.
