Coast Guard, multiple agencies searching for diver in Niagara River near Buffalo
CLEVELAND — The U.S. Coast Guard and multiple agencies are searching for a diver in the Niagara River near Buffalo, New York, Friday. There is no Coast Guard imagery available for this case. Just after 1 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Buffalo were notified that a diver went missing during a dive in the Niagara River. Crews from Coast Guard Station Buffalo responded aboard a 45-foot response boat and began to search. While searching it was discovered that the tender cable had parted. The diver's secondary dive tanks were also recovered on the waters surface. Multiple other agencies are searching along with Station Buffalo, including a crew from Coast Guard Air Station Detroit, aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter. More information will be released as it becomes available.
