Notice to all Shipowners, Fishing Vessel Owners, Agents, Shipmasters, Skippers, Fishers and Seafarers

The Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport have been advised that the Marine Institute are decommissioning the wave energy test site in Galway Bay. The decommissioning will involve the removal of four cardinal marks and the establishment of a new special mark.

The “Chateau Thierry” (Callsign EIHK6) is scheduled to arrive on site between the 11th and 18th September 2017 to install the new Special Mark and remove the four Cardinal Marks. The duration of the operation will be approximately 2 days depending upon weather or other operational conditions. It is anticipated that the decommissioning operation will be completed on or before the 19th September 2017.

The location of the Galway Bay test site is shown in Figure 1 below:
