Fishing vessel Yvonne Denise

KODIAK, Alaska Oct. 12, 2005)--A Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued three fishermen who abandoned ship on a beach near Middy Point Tuesday morning. The Coast Guard received a call at 11:49 a.m. reporting the fishing vessel Yvonne Denise was disabled and adrift. The three crew members were preparing to jump ship as the Yvonne Denise was drifting toward rocks. Coast Guard cutter's Anthony Petit and Naushon were dispatched to search for the crew of Yvonne Denise. A helicopter crew launched from Sitka arrived on sceneand located the three fishermen on the beach. They were hoisted safely and transported to Ketchikan. USCG photo courtesy of Air Station Sitka
