Fundraising Gala for SSV Oliver Hazard Perry

NEWPORT, RI (June 29, 2015) – After six years of planning and construction, Rhode Island’s Official Sailing Education Vessel SSV Oliver Hazard Perry is nearly complete and will begin its sailing education mission this summer. Oliver Hazard Perry Rhode Island’s (OHPRI) annual Fundraising Gala will celebrate this unprecedented $16 million economic development project, which has supported hundreds of jobs in the Rhode Island marine industry, while honoring OHPRI’s Board Chairman Bart Dunbar for his unfailing devotion to OHPRI’s Education-at-Sea mission.
Proceeds from the night will go toward the organization’s educational programs. The 200-foot-long SSV Oliver Hazard Perry will be dockside and open for visits. Cocktails will be followed by dinner, dancing and dessert. A live and silent auction also will take place.
