Ex Aqua is pleased to announce the launch of the Astus 14.1 trimaran, latest addition to the Astus range of trimarans.

For those who have been hesitating between a racing dinghy and a catamaran, the Astus 14.1 trimaran comes as an exciting alternative. The Astus 14.1 combines the ease of handling and steering of a monohull with the speed of a catamaran. The flared hull and large cockpit provide a dry and comfortable sitting position whilst the floats provide resassuring stability.

Fast, stable and comfortable

Each float, with 80 litres of buoyancy, provides the same righting moment as an adult on a trapeze. This allows the boat to carry more sail on a narrow planing hull and achieve planing speeds more quickly. Beginners will enjoy a boat capable of picking up speed in light wind whilst being stable and easy to control. The dry and comfortable sitting position allows for long sailing treks.Experienced sailors will enjoy planing sensations similar to a skiff but with a much shorter learning curve, thanks the Astus 14.1's ease of use and furling gennaker.

The Astus 14.1 comes in two versions: the standard version with a 6 m² mainsail and the Sport version with an 8 m² mainsail and a 7 m² furling gennaker with bowsprit.

Car-toppable

The Astus 14.1 can be easily rigged within minutes and without any tool. The mainhull weighting a mere 38 kg, the boat can be easily transported on the roof of your car. Alternatively a combination trailer with detachable launching trolley is also available.

The Astus 14.1 completes the Astusboats range of trimarans from the entry level, alongside the Astus 16.1 dayboat and Astus 20.1 cruiser.

"Astusboats's vocation is to design accessible and affordable sailing boats that offer maximum pleasure with minimum hassle. Light and easy to handle, the Astus 14.1 is the perfect boat for beginners as well as providing rewarding sensations to more experienced sailors." says Jean-Hubert Pommois, Managing Director of Astusboats."

"The Astus 14.1 fills a gap for accessible racing dinghies and as such should generate a lot of interest in sailing clubs. We are looking forward to the building up of the first fleets, which should provide interesting racing." says Claire Guignabaudet, Principal of Ex Aqua.

The Astus 14.1 will be available in UK and Ireland from September 2007.

Astusboats were started from the desire to produce affordable, easy to use and versatile sailboats that offer rewarding sailing. These requirements led to the choice of the multihull design that combines light weight with high performance. Jean-Hubert Pommois is the inventor of the award winning telescopic float supports, which make the Astus trimarans so easy to use.
