Ireland. Marine Notice Well Operations on the Corrib Gas Field

Notice to all Shipowners, Fishuing Vessel Owner, Agents, Shipmasters, Skippers, Fishermen, Yachtsmen, Seafarers and Chandlers 

Well Operations on the Corrib Gas Field off the West Coast of Ireland. Offshore Drilling Unit “Sedco 711”

The Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport wishes to advise that the offshore drilling unit ‘Sedco 711’ (Callsign ELBU6) will commence well operations for Shell E&P Ireland Ltd. on the Corrib Gas Field, off the coast of Co. Mayo, on or around 13 April 2011.  The drilling unit is expected to be on location for a period of approximately 4 months.

The planned position of the drilling unit for the wells is as set out in the table below:

Any significant changes to either location or duration will be the subject of a further Marine Notice.

The semi-submersible drilling unit will have one dedicated stand-by safety vessel and one dedicated supply vessel.  All vessels involved in the operations will be listening on VHF CH. 16 throughout the project.

All Mariners are reminded of the Safety Zone that is in place around the Corrib Gas Field development, referred to in Marine Notice No. 21 of 2006.

All vessels, particularly those engaged in fishing, are requested to give the drilling unit a wide berth of at least 500 metres and to keep a sharp lookout in the relevant areas.
