Pilotfish Marine AB. is celebrating the special mention C-pod gained at this year’s DAME Design Award 2006. Presented during METS (Marine Equipment Trade Show) 14 –16 Nov. 2006, just 20 products from a total of 166 were singled out for a special mention during the Award ceremony.

The DAME Award is the most globally competitive prize for marine equipment. In its 16th year, this annual competition recognises new products that offer the best blend of aesthetic and functional design.

In a report published by the DAME jury it commended ‘the neatly packaged C-pod from Pilotfish Marine AB of Sweden that allows owners to interact with, and monitor, their boats via web pages or mobile phones.’

Commenting on C-pod success at METS, Jonas Bjurstrom, Managing Director of Pilotfish Marine said; “We have has a fantastic reception at METS. C-pod is capturing everyone’s imagination with its eye-catching design and total functionality. We have met with our distributors and spoken with many potential customers who predict an increased demand for boat tracking and monitoring over the coming years.”

Easy to install, C-pod acts as the owners ‘eyes and ears’. Boats can be tracked globally and alarms monitored using data, which is transmitted wirelessly to C-pod’s central server. Owners can monitor and manage their boat using real time data via a personal web portal or mobile phone – location can be plotted, power levels checked and alarm status viewed.

C-pod’s built-in GPS receiver detects if a boat’s position has changed more than 250 metres from its supposed location. If the boat moves outsides its GeoFence full tracking and monitoring of the boat ensues.

Unlike other tracking devices, C-pod contains a pre-installed SIM card for global reach at a flat rate. There are no monthly contracts; C-pod comes with 100 free credits and more credits can be purchased on line – rather like a pay-as-you-go phone.
