An engineer with more than 20 years of experience in product development, operations and marketing, John Kujawa has founded Lumitec, a designer and manufacturer of marine LED lighting solutions. Kujawa’s track record spans high-tech and marine markets.
Headquartered in Delray Beach, Fla., Lumitec offers a full range of highly configurable marine LED lighting solutions to easily create a consistent, distinctive look. Lumitec LED fixtures are designed with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the lights’ true expected life and use, combining cohesive functionality and style to guarantee superior, long-lasting products.
“We had extensive conversations with several boat manufacturers to find out what they really wanted in a lighting partner,” said Lumitec President John Kujawa. “Obviously quality and value are paramount. Where we really saw the opportunity to differentiate ourselves was in offering a bow-to-stern lighting solution with a cohesive look and feel – all from a single, reliable supplier.”
“Our LED fixtures enable an engineer or designer to select a look, or ‘theme’, which complements the overall style of the vessel,” explains Kujawa. “Within each theme, they can select individual luminaires which meet the lighting needs of a specific onboard location. With 22 models, seven color options and up to four light output choices, boat builders are offered close to 500 configurations to choose from.”
Lumitec’s design, testing, and manufacturing is done at the R&D headquarter offices in Florida. A 100,000-square-foot distribution and assembly center of Lumitec’s sister company is located in Warminster, Pa. Facilities include a full electrical lab; a rapid prototype lab with complete machine shop and extensive metal fabrication equipment; a salt-spray chamber; and UV exposure evaluation equipment; as well as water ingress evaluation tools.
Lumitec will be showcasing its complete line of interior, exterior and underwater LED lights at the 2008 International Boat Builders’ Exhibition & Conference (IBEX), Miami, Fla., October 6-8, booth # 2762.
