UK. International Polar Year to be unveiled at Earls Court Boat Show

The boating community has long been aware of environmental issues. This year at the Whyte & Mackay Earls Court Boat Show a number of major environmental initiatives will be unveiled.

These include: International Polar Year, 2007-08 – three thousand scientists from more than sixty nations are working together to research changing snow, ice and sea conditions in Polar Regions.

The Marine Conservation Society - campaigns for clean seas and beaches, sustainable fisheries, and protection for all marine life. The MCS will be exhibiting their COOL SEAS ROADSHOW – a life-size display of marine life typically found in the waters around the UK. Exhibits will include every sea animal sailors are likely to encounter, including giant whales and dolphins, turtles, a basking shark - and even a great white shark. 

Green awards ceremony to honor London business leaders who have made an impact on the health of The River Thames. Winners include Oxford River Cruises and the Sofitel St James Hotel. Awards will be presented by 'The Thames River Guide'. 

Horizon Motor Yachts will be promoting their first bio-fuel powered motorboat. Eco-friendly products including a solar powered battery charging pack from Power Monkey and non-toxic boat-paint will be demonstrated at the show.
