MDL Marinas Installs Tesla Charging Points across UK Marina Network

Wednesday, 16 August 2017

MDL Marinas, Europe’s largest marina operator, continues to lead the industry by installing a second wave of Tesla charging points across its UK Marina network, following the success and excellent feedback received from members after the initial launch last year.

The new units have been installed at the following marinas:

Shamrock Quay

Penton Hook

Windsor (16 amp)

In addition to the Tesla chargers, Type 2 Universal chargers have also been installed at all of MDL Marinas’ sites, excluding Windsor and Penton Hook Marina, allowing ease of access for other models of electric cars.

The installation follows the introduction of electric charging points at some of MDL Marina’s UK locations last year, which included Ocean Village Marina in Southampton, Cobb’s Quay Marina in Poole, Queen Anne’s Battery in Plymouth and Hamble Point Marina. The installation saw MDL become the inaugural UK marina operator to feature the charging points.

MDL Marinas is renowned for being an innovator in the industry and is fully committed to ensuring its members enjoy the latest technology and benefits as part of their berthing package with the group. MDL was the first operator to launch WiFi in 2004 and is well-known for being a company that sets the industry pace, with a full corporate social responsibility plan and one of the most comprehensive berthing packages available in the marketplace.

Adrien Burnand, Head of Marketing at MDL Marinas, commented: “We are always striving to find new ways to add value to our member experience and recognise the increased demand for electric vehicles and charging points, as the industry evolves.

“Following last year’s UK launch and the popularity of the chargers, we are delighted to be introducing electric charging points at more of our marinas. The installation offers our members greater flexibility, as well as a marina experience which recognises the importance of providing sustainable and environmentally-friendly travel options.”
