Hartman Yachts give debut to Livingstone 24 at HISWA Amsterdam in-water Boat Show

Tuesday, 15 August 2017

Hartman Yachts will give a global premiere to its brand-new Livingstone 24 motoryacht at the HISWA Amsterdam in-water Boat Show. From 29 August to 3 September, this classic style model will showcase how a vintage appearance can be combined with a characteristic contemporary character to provide first-rate comfort and performance on the water. The Livingstone 24 is the first superyacht in Hartman Yachts’ classic range. The name of the series is an homage to the Scottish missionary and explorer Dr David Livingstone, famous for his travels around Africa and tireless work on abolishing the slave trade. Dr Livingstone sailed the first steel boat ever built, the steam launch Ma Robert, during his Zambezi expedition of 1858-1862.

Reminiscent of an old-school luxury ocean liner, the 23.99-metre Livingstone 24 has a full displacement hull and an aluminium superstructure. Her distinctive retro appearance is inspired by classic gentlemen’s yachts of the 1930s, and enhanced with state-of-the-art Dutch design and technology, giving her an ingenious minimalist look & feel. This design brief was skilfully realised by the designers Niels van Oostenbrugge and Albert Abma of Sheerline.

Every element of the Livingstone 24 reflects the yard’s background and experience in commercial shipping. This heritage and a robust structure are combined in a hardy classic yacht with true exploration capabilities. Owners of a Livingstone 24 are well-equipped for long journeys to faraway destinations: the excellent seakeeping capabilities and outstanding toughness make exploring even the most remote coasts and ports a true pleasure.

The Livingstone 24 features top-of-the-line technology, including first-rate communications and entertainment equipment, a Naiad Fin stabilizer system, a luxury tender and a wide range of watersport toys. The insulation is of an exceptionally high quality, as are the paintwork and stainless-steel components. The layout makes work on deck and mooring a breeze, while the advanced bridge and electronics are executed to the highest standards

The interior exemplifies fine Dutch craftsmanship and is characterised by a warm and welcoming atmosphere with contemporary elements. The large saloon on the main deck is combined with a well-equipped open galley and integrated dinette. The raised pilothouse provides 360-degree views and an intimate seating area for the family, while maintaining an open connection with the salon and galley. This refreshing open-plan layout is a welcome innovation on a yacht of this size.

The Livingstone 24 is made with a relaxed family lifestyle in mind and has room for up to nine guests in four cabins. The master cabin forward features a king-sized bed, while the guest accommodations amidships and aft on the lower deck consist of one double, one twin and one bunk bed cabin.

The fully covered aft deck comprises a dining area, a grill and access to the large sundeck, which includes a secluded seating area and table, and can be covered with a canvas awning for protection against the sun. The spacious top deck can easily be transformed from a daytime relaxation area to an elegant alfresco dining space.

The showcased Livingstone 24 is driven by a single screw powered by a 345 hp MAN engine, which has a range of 3000 miles at a speed of 11 knots. (The standard version has twin screws powered by two MAN engines of 345 hp each.) An internal mooring-pole system makes docking simple and anchoring in shallow waters obsolete. The yacht complies with all EN ISO requirements as a private yacht and has a full CE category A certification. Hartman Yachts is the pleasure craft division of Hartman Marine Group, a long-time leader in shipbuilding and maritime transport that can trace its roots back to 1775. Based on Urk in Holland’s nautical heartland, Hartman Yachts has a no-nonsense focus on quality and workmanship. With distinctive ranges of superyachts and the capacity to produce fully custom yachts, the yard fits within the purest tradition of fine Dutch yachtbuilding. As a dedicated embodiment of this approach, the Livingstone 24 is expected to be firmly in the limelight at the upcoming HISWA show in Amsterdam.
