29th of May : The launch of the trimaran Idec Sport

Thursday, 25 May 2017

Francis Joyon and his team will launch thr  trimaran Idec Sport on Monday the 29th of May at 10 am in front of the Multiplast yard. This boat has seen many emotional launches since 2007 whilst accruing its extraordinary track record.

To go around the world in 40 days at an average speed of more than 26 knots, with certain days at more than 36 knots, is not painless. Over the last 2 months, the Multiplast teams, together with the Idec Sport shore team and crew have rallied round to repair the trimaran's cuts and bruises. This boat, the double holder of the Jules Verne Trophy and the Route du Rhum has accumulated more than 200,000 miles in the hands of the best skippers (Franck Cammas, Loick Peyron, Francis Joyon) and remains capable of clocking up top level races and records.

Proof (if there was need for it) of the constancy of Multiplast boats.

Launching of IDEC Sport "The Bridge" for 4 multihulls which Multiplast knows well
On the 23rd of June, as part of the celebrations to mark the 100 year anniversary of the American troop's arrival to join the Allied fight in the 1st World War Macif, Sodebo, Actual and Idec Sport will take part in an unusual race between the maxi-trimarans and the liner Queen Mary 2.

This race between Saint-Nazaire and New-York, the first race which is 100% dedicated to "Ultim' trimarans", will host an encounter between 4 multihulls which are well-known to Mutliplast. |

DEC Sport (ex Groupama, ex Banque Populaire) built at the Multiplast yard in 2006, fresh from its second win of the Jules Vernes Trophy (team around the world record).

Sodebo Ultim (ex Geronimo), built at the Multiplast yard in 2001 and then modified in 2013. Thomas Coville holds the solo round the world record on this boat in 49 days and 3 hours
