ALL-ENERGY AND SUMS 2017 OPEN TOMORROW!
Take up to 400 exhibiting companies from 16 countries, mix liberally with 400+/- speakers, including the First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon MSP, and a host of industry luminaries in over a hundred hours of conference and seminar discussion, debate and knowledge sharing; add in a memorable Giant Networking Evening and the opportunity for a series of 1-2-1 meetings aimed at increasing business opportunities, and you have the ‘recipe’ for All-Energy 2017.
The two-day event is the UK’s largest renewable and low carbon energy exhibition and conference and it being held at Glasgow’s Scottish Event Campus (SEC – formerly SECC) tomorrow, Wednesday 10, and on Thursday 11 May.
Add alongside All-Energy the inaugural two-day Smart Urban Mobility Solutions (SUMS 2017) conference in which sessions on Transport Scotland’s policy, strategy and delivery; ‘Smart Cities and what they are doing’; ‘Connected; and Autonomous vehicles’; ‘Powering from renewables; and ‘Fuelling the Future – Now!’ come under the conference spotlight. And in the exhibition, the SUMS feature area includes 19 low carbon vehicles, a Segway driving school, and a cyclist on a static bike not only being used to power a computer, but to raise money for Parkinson’s UK
Add the two events together, and it is a case of ‘mission accomplished, we’re ready to welcome you’. All that is needed now is for the doors to open tomorrow (10 May) and visitors to arrive. There is free access to all with relevant business/professional interests. Online registration is at www.all-energy.co.uk
Diving deeper, there are 15 sector-specific trails around the exhibition to help visitors find their way around (and exhibitors see the people they are really eager to meet); dynamic opening plenary sessions on both days, 10 parallel conference sessions on the first day and nine on the second; and four quick fire seminar theatre programmes over the two days, with some speakers taking advantage of the Meet the Buyers Share Fair to broaden their supply chain. Then at the end of Day One over a thousand enjoy the networking opportunities at the Giant Networking Evening and Civic Reception held courtesy of the Rt Hon the Lord Provost of Glasgow. It is a ‘recipe’ that is set to attract some 7,000 from home and overseas.
Looking forward to a fantastic two days
“All the component parts are in place, and all that remains is to welcome visitors and exhibitors to what promises to be a fantastic two days,” says Event Director, Jonathan Heastie of organisers Reed Exhibitions. “We are looking forward to welcoming the First Minister to her first All-Energy, and thousands of participants.
“It’s an event that buzzes with enthusiasm from exhibitors eager to do business and visitors just as eager to learn and to engage with exhibitors and conference speakers. We have a superb exhibitor list with a broad range of highly relevant exhibits, and a stellar conference line-up. The First Minister’s presence will add to both the topicality and significance of the programme.
“This is an important time for Scotland’s energy plans. The consultation period for the Scottish Government’s draft Energy Strategy is currently open, meaning that there will be much buzz in conference sessions and on the exhibition show floor about responding to the acclaimed far reaching and ranging document. It sets out Scotland’s vision of achieving almost complete decarbonisation of the energy system; and setting a new 2030 ‘all-energy’ target for the equivalent of 50% of Scotland’s heat, transport and electricity consumption to be supplied from renewable sources.
“All-Energy is proudly based in Glasgow,” he adds. “But of course it looks beyond Scotland to the wider United Kingdom and to overseas issues and opportunities. Two of our overseas exhibiting countries – the Czech Republic and Taiwan - will be holding special conference sessions. Naturally the world-class conference looks at activities far and wide in over 50 conference sessions, as well as our exhibition show floor ‘Quick Fire’ seminar theatres.”
Not only will the First Minister play her role in the All-Energy opening session, but Scottish Government officials will have a role to play in sessions such as Energy Efficiency and Onshore Wind (also on 10 May) and Local Energy and Heat (both on 11 May), as well as in the bioenergy, carbon capture and storage, hydrogen and fuel cells, hydropower, marine renewables, and offshore wind sessions. In addition to the main conference the ‘Quick Fire’ exhibition show floor theatres are devoted to Marine Renewables (wave and tidal); and Community/Local Energy (10 May) and Offshore Wind; and Energy Efficiency (Day 2).
Other special sessions include the Innovate UK infrastructure systems innovation showcase; the H2FC SUPERGEN Hub Learn & Lunch session on three hydrogen and fuel cells White Papers; a networking lunch for ocean energy companies and university students considering their new careers; the informative Aberdeen ‘Lunch ‘n’ Learn: Opportunities in the Renewable Sector’; and an All-Energy Women’s Speed Mentoring Event; details on all are on the All-Energy website. The full conference programme is at www.all-energy.co.uk/Whats-On/Conference/
The Exhibition plays its role too
Up to 400 exhibiting companies from 16 countries will, once again, be highlighting their products and services in the All-Energy exhibition. Some, like Heat, and Energy Storage, have dedicated zones. To find the exhibits of most interest to them visitors can make use of the 15 sector-specific trails around the show online in advance, via the All-Energy App, or using trail maps available on arrival at SEC. Relevant icons appear on the stand themselves and play a double role as they ensure exhibitors see the visitors of most relevance to them.
Strong support
All-Energy is held in association with the Renewable Energy Association (REA); Highlands and Islands Enterprise; Scottish Enterprise; Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG) and host city Glasgow. The Society for Underwater Technology is the show’s learned society patron, and Shepherd and Wedderburn the Headline Sponsors. A further 40 organisations including government departments, professional bodies and trade associations act as supporters of the two-day annual event.
