Palmawatch launches ‘PalmaFits’ at Palma Superyacht Show.

This year’s Palma Superyacht Show couldn’t have come at a better time for Mallorca based Palmawatch, who will be exhibiting on stand number RR14, within the dedicated Refit & Repair sector, a new initiative which has been introduced for this year.

Due to the industry’s ever-increasing demand for superyacht refits, and following many years of experience with refit activity in Mallorca, the company has just announced that it is expanding operations, and has formed PalmaFits.

The Palma show will be used to launch the PalmaFits concept, to explain the philosophy behind it, and to promote a fully supporting dedicated website (www.palmafits.com) which will go live on 28th April, the opening day of the show.

PalmaFits will be using External Project Managers supplied by SMC Ltd to ensure that everything from the initial enquiry, through to sea trials is professionally managed, with the most effective communications between all interconnected parties being the key driving principle.

Tom Jackman, Managing director of SMC (Scillonian Marine Consultants) who have partnered with Palmawatch in the new venture explained further: “With the PalmaFits team having years of experience working in Palma when bespoke services are required, sub-contractors who are highly experienced in providing required services will be selected based on specific previous experience and proven quality of service.  This means the outstanding range of services that are available in Palma can be sourced according to each individual task.”

Jackman also confirmed that if the yacht is due a Classification Society Survey, be it an Annual, Renewal or Dry Docking, then by using suitably qualified Project Managers the refit will ensure any work required by the Class Society is comprehensively planned for and completed.

Also just as importantly, the PalmaFits team includes an exclusively dedicated administration department.  This is to ensure budgetary and accounting control of projects, and for the management of TPA (ex-VAT accounting) for qualifying vessels.

With Palmawatch also having very well established Material Supply and Yacht Care (Gardienage) divisions in Mallorca, they have plenty of other reasons for visitors to drop by their stand, and to encourage this they are making some special offers exclusively for the five day show period.

* 10% discount from selected products by Lewmar, Exit Carbon Gangways, PSS Shaft Seals and Max Prop folding propellers.

* Book 6 months Yacht Care plan, and get 1 month for free.

* And a prize draw for 3 visitors to win a free Restube. A rapid inflation safety floatation device, a convenient back up for all water sports, and a ‘must have’ for crew and guests onboard.

Palmawatch have been established in Palma de Mallorca for over 15 years with a solid track record in haul out works, maintenance engineering, material supplies, refit projects and yacht care (Gardienage).

The company is based right inside STP (Servicios Técnicos Portuarios), probably the best ‘open shipyard’ in the Western Mediterranean, which was established about ten years ago, under a new concession agreement with the Balearic Port Authority.

Nowadays the yard is handling over 1500 vessels per year for repair or refit, with a clear policy of allowing yacht owners, and captains to choose from a wide range of professional contractors who are pre approved to work in the yard, thus meeting all the necessary health, safety and insurance liability requirements.

STP offers 70,000 m² of space on land and 35,000 m² on the water, with facilities for hauling vessels of up to 60 m, several keel pits for deep drafted sailing yachts, 50 berths for yachts up to 90 m, and 5 travel lifts for hoisting vessels of up to 700 tonnes.
