January 25th 2017: The overall results at the Royal Langkawi Int. Regatta, brings many changes to the AYGP Rankings at the half way mark, in the 2016-17 Season. Defending champion, Anthony Root/Steve Manning's Ker Custom 42 Black Baza returns to the top of the rankings, by nature of competing on five point scoring regattas this season. Trailing by 7.5 points, Fred Kinmonth/Nick Burns GTS 43 Mandrake II have a regatta in hand, over Black Baza and high scoring at remaining events, will put them back on top of the leader board.
Seven race wins in Langkawi, for Niels Degenkolw's X 3/4 ton Phoenix, earns them 14.5 points and rapidly advance into third place, after contesting only three regattas. Competing with distinction on two different yachts (Farr 520 Zuhal and Platu 25 MAFT1), Mohd. Masyuri A Rahmat takes over 4th place in the AYGP Skipper rankings. While John Newnham's Firefly 850 Sports Twin Sharks slips down to 4th place, in the AYGP Yacht rankings.
