France: Boats end-of-life, truly the end? - environment debate opens next week at Nautic
Friday, 04 December 2015
The Paris attacks have put a special mark on us. With some events being cancelled or postponed in the “city of lights”, there have also been enquires about Nautic – Paris International Boat Show – but the organisers confirmed that it would take place, together with accompanying events. The conference “Boat’s end-of-life, truly the end?” jointly organised by European Boating Industry, the French Federation of Nautical Industries (FIN) and Reed Expositions France will be held in less than a week!
On Tuesday, 8 December on the Scène Nautic in Hall 1, the speakers from the European Commission, FIN, APER, UCINA Confindustria Nautica and European Boating Industry will explain how the boat’s end-of-life issue is being dealt with around the world and showcase the French pioneering experience in this field. Concrete solutions will be presented and the future challenges related to waste reuse and recycling will be examined.
The European Commission will present its approach and actions relating to waste and circular economy. We look forward to a lively exchange with the speakers and the audience about the indicators and cornerstones of how to stimulate a boat disposal and recycling market in Europe.
The conference is free of charge and open to anyone interested in the subject. No prior registration is required, however you need to be a Nautic visitor to enter the premises and please bear in mind that the necessary safety checks may delay your entrance to the show.
The event in Paris will be a good chance to sum up all the recent developments in the field of boat recycling and dismantling, with the EU project Boat DIGEST having finished earlier this year, the conference “Future of Yacht Recycling” held at METS few weeks ago and the newest boat dismantling scheme being recently launched in Sweden.
The event’s programme and the speakers’ list are available in English and French:
