UK. New RNLI Corgy Toy raising vital charity funds this Christmas

Thursday, 25 October 2012

It’s the smallest piece of RNLI equipment we’ve ever seen but it’s doing a big job to raise funds for our Flood Rescue Team this Christmas!

British company Toolstation has negotiated with prestigious toy-makers Corgi to produce a quality model of the RNLI’s Flood Rescue Team’s vehicle and attached inflatable.

The model comprises a Land Rover Defender and RNLI D Class lifeboat.  It costs £5.49 at Toolstation’s 120 retail counters across the UK and also available online at, with all profits going to the charity.

Toolstation’s Managing Director Neil Carroll said: “We already sponsor the RNLI’s Flood Rescue Team. Its services, to assist in inland waterborne emergencies and in cases of natural disaster, are being called on more and more. While of course it is vital to raise funds for the Flood Rescue Team, my big hope is that this will also help spread awareness of their activities around the UK.”

Neil added: “Since Toolstation took on the privileged position of corporate sponsor for the Flood Rescue Team in 2010, my focus has been on making publicity for the charity a key part of what we bring to the partnership. Following a year of background work and close co-operation between colleagues from Toolstation and from the RNLI, this model is the result. It is going to be very popular and I am delighted with it.”

The model, which would be perfect as a gift for RNLI supporters both young and old, is also expected to be in high demand by collectors. Corgi has ensured all parts of the model are safe and durable and both the Land Rover Defender and the D Class Lifeboat have been recreated faithfully.

Robin Goodlad, RNLI Flood Response Team Manager, said the charity greatly appreciated the support of Toolstation. He said: “The Flood Rescue Team receives no official government funding for our work in this country, but calls for our services continue to grow.

“Since our formation in 2000, we now have 250 trained team members divided into six teams positioned around the UK to respond to flooding.

“We are very impressed with the Corgi model and its accuracy and detail, and I am sure it will sell very well indeed which will be of great benefit to the RNLI Flood Rescue Team.”

The model, in an attractive presentation box, is available for £5.49 at all Toolstation branches (over 115 around the country, all open 7 days a week) or online at (Part code 22357); or it can be ordered by phone on Freephone 0808 100 7211.
