Kannad Marine, a business of the Orolia Group (NYSE Alternext Paris – FR0010501015 – ALORO) announces that it has received type approval for its revolutionary SafeLink R10 SRS (Survivor Recovery System), making it available for sale throughout the USA.

Designed to be carried by anyone who spends time on the water for work or leisure purposes, the type approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of Washington means the R10 is now issued with a Grant of Authorisation certificate, approving it for use in the United States.

Commenting on the approval, Global Sales Director of McMurdo Ltd, Ross Wilkinson said, “With this FCC certification the United States joins a growing list of countries that have granted type approval for the SafeLink R10 SRS.

“ The R10 has recently been recognised for its innovation and technology within the marine safety sector by being named the Overall Winner of the 2012 Pittman Innovation awards, and we are delighted that consumers in the states are now able to benefit from this award-winning must-have safety product.”

Intended to be attached to a lifejacket and activated by individuals in difficulty at sea, the R10 uses both GPS and AIS (Automatic Identification System) technology to send structured alert messages containing precise location information to AIS equipment onboard the vessel that the individual has come from, and other AIS equipped vessels within a typical 4 mile radius. In a man overboard situation, chances of finding and recovering the casualty are greatly increased, thanks to information given by the R10, which for the first time shows bearing and distance to the man in the water.

The SafeLink R10 SRS has been designed, tested and manufactured by UK-based Kannad Marine, using the company’s longstanding expertise in emergency location beacons. Waterproof, compact and ruggedly constructed, the SafeLink R10 is ideal for anyone spending time on the water, whether for work or leisure purposes.

The SafeLink R10 is available through Kannad Marine’s network of international distributors and via Survitec Survival Products Inc as the exclusive distributor in the US.
