DEUTZ is beginning the restructuring of its medium-sized and large engines business with the appointment of the Management Board of DEUTZ Power Systems. As DEUTZ reported today, Klaus Guido Riese and Helmut Drotziger will be taking over the Management of the new business unit.

Klaus Guido Riese (40), who will take charge of Finance and will also act as Managing Director, has worked at DEUTZ AG for six years and has been Head of Accounts and Controlling for the last 4 years. Before his move to DEUTZ Riese, a graduate in business administration, was Manager at the auditing company Price Waterhouse.

Helmut Drotziger (50) has been Head of Sales and Marketing of the Austrian gas engines manufacturer Jenbacher, which was taken over in May last year by General Electric USA, since 1999. Previously the engineering graduate was Head of Sales of ABB Flexible Automation GmbH in Germany. In the management of DEUTZ Power Systems Drotziger will be responsible for the market area.

The new Management Team will begin its work in Mannheim in the second half of 2004 and will drive forward the ongoing conversion of the former "Motoren-Werke Mannheim" into a high-tech Centre of Excellence for diesel and gas engines. From the beginning of 2005 the new business unit DEUTZ Power Systems will operate as a separate legal entity.
