Trade show news:
With two newly developed ropes in its bags, the Gleistein Ropes team from Bremen has travelled to Amsterdam for the METS. The quality ropemaker from the coast is presenting both ropes for yachts and superyachts to the specialist public at the world’s largest accessory exhibition. Both rope designs are based on the knowledge gained from collaboration with the America’s Cup Team “BMW ORACLE Racing”.
MegaTwin with optimum strength + elongation properties.
The heat set core of “MegaTwin Dyneema® HS” gives the rope a strength and stretch similar to that of steel wire ropes and guarantees a very sturdy rope cross section. Owing to the abrasion-resistant cover, MegaTwin is particularly suitable for stoppers. The universal line is ideal for guys, up and down hauls, topping lifts, reefing lines, vangs and Cunningham. Readjustment is minimised by the non-recoverable stretch (creep) of the Dyneema core. The high UV resistance rounds off the properties of a rope that will particularly find its field of application on superyachts.
Structure: core braided of Dyneema® SK75 fibres, heat set intermediate cover in polyester staple fibres extremely abrasion-resistant cover braiding in high-strength polyester Gleistein orange ID yarn.
Maximum strength on winches: RunnerTwin
The newly developed RunnerTwin PBO 50 / TEC 50 / VEC 50 is a rope for running backstays, tackles and particularly for use on winch systems. The core in 12-strand braid of Dyneema SK75 fibres (highly modular) makes for breaking loads and abrasion resistance. RunnerTwin withstands high contact pressures and undergoes only minimal "fusing" on winches and sheaves. Special finishes with a greater proportion of high modularity are available on request.
Structure: core 12-strand braid of Dyneema® SK75 fibres with geothane HD coating
cover 32-strand braid in three special structures with 50 % high-strength polyester respectively and for PBO 50 with 50 % Zylon®; VEC 50 with 50 % Vectran®; TEC 50 with 50 % Technora®; Gleistein orange ID yarn.
The ropes are available in thicknesses of 5 to 36 millimetres (MegaTwin Dyneema) and from 8 to 36 millimetres (RunnerTwin). |
