Rick Mackie: Mercury Racing is pleased to announce the winners of the $50,000 ChampBoat Grand Prix Series National High Points contingency prize purse for the 2006 racing season. The purse, which is a retail-value promotional credit toward the purchase of Mercury Racing race outboard parts and accessories, rewards racers who compete in Champ and Champ 2 (SST 120) class competition. The $40,000 Mercury Racing Champ Class contingency prize purse is split with $20,000 awarded to drivers participating in the Mercury Racing Stock Champ program and $20,000 awarded to all Mercury Racing Champ class entries, including stock, modified and rookie. The $10,000 Mercury Racing Champ 2 contingency purse rewards competitors in the Champ 2 class, which features the Mercury Racing SST 120 race outboard. The Mercury Racing ChampBoat Grand Prix Series Champ Rookie Program enables qualified rookie Champ class competitors to earn up to $500 cash rebates per race for a maximum of eight races on purchases of new Mercury Racing Stock Champ race engines and gearcases. The program was limited to a maximum of five participants for the 2006 race season. The Mercury Racing Stock Champ Program rewards racers who compete using stock Mercury Racing Champ race outboard engines (powerhead, gearcase and related engine parts and accessories) as produced by Mercury Racing. Engines used by competitors participating in the Mercury Racing Rookie and Stock Champ program needed to pass an on-site post-race inspection by Mercury Racing personnel in order to qualify for rebates and the Stock contingency prize purse.
