Marian Martin:

The 40 foot and Class 2 monohull leaders are both at a disadvantage, having each lost one or more sails and both are being chased by determined sailors in second place. Phil Sharp (40 foot) has no gennaker and Kip Stone (Class 2) is down his solent and Code 5. The loss of these sails will be most felt, when the boats circumnavigate Guadeloupe, in reaching conditions.

IMOCA

Marc Guillemot (Safran) is gaining, falling back, gaining …… on Anne Liardet (Roxy). Anne is still some 246 miles away from Pointe-ŕ- Pitre with an average of 129 miles in the last 24 hours and it could be an interesting finish.

Class 2 Monohulls

Kip Stone (Artforms) knows that Servane Escoffier is fighting hard to get up with him and has a full inventory of sales. Servane is now just 68.8 miles behind Kip and in better winds than the American skipper. She has had the best average in the last 24 hours, with 252.8 miles against Kip’s 193.6 miles.

Luc Coquelin (Cap Guadeloupe), 3rd, is 452 miles behind the leader and the Class 4th, Denis Douillez (AOI solidarité Dentaire), still has 1,414 miles to run go.

40 Footer Class

Phil Sharp's advance on Gildas Morvan (Oyster Funds) is melting like an ice cream under the tropical sun. What was 140 miles, three days ago, was 58 miles at 1100 GMT! The rest of the fleet is also catching up, but from a long way back, as Dominic Vittet (Atao Audio System) in 3rd place is 400 miles behind Phil Sharp.

Phil (philsharpracing.com) is coming onto Gildas' trajectory, but has a quandary about whether to follow his route? Phil needs to seek downwind sailing conditions, which will favour performance without a gennaker. Lack of that sail will also put Phil at a disadvantage in the Guadeloupe circumnavigation, so this could be a very close finish.
