Awards news:
Simrad’s AP25 Series Autopilot with Virtual Feedback received the Best Autopilot award at the 2006 National Marine Electronics (NMEA) convention, held recently in Naples, Florida. This latest recognition from the industry (NMEA Awards are voted on by non-manufacturing active members and NMEA-certified marine electronics technicians) continues Simrad’s dominance of the autopilot category. In fact, Simrad autopilots have won all of the NMEA category awards given out over the years.
The AP25 Series Autopilot is now available with Virtual Feedback, eliminating the need for a rudder feedback unit on outboard and sterndrive powered vessels. This makes Simrad’s AP25 Series an ideal match for a range of boats up to 40 feet, providing easier installation and more reliable performance. Its compatibility with Mercury Verado outboards has made the AP25 Series a huge success on high-performance, outboard powered fishing boats. With the increasing popularity of the Southern Kingfish Association (SKA) and other American saltwater tournament fishing circuits, this has become an increasingly important segment of the recreational autopilot market.
“The AP25 Series has set new standards for autopilot performance and reliability in this demanding application and punishing environment, where boats literally run for hours at high speeds to reach distant fishing grounds,” said Paul Comyns, Marketing Director for Simrad, Inc. “These tournament professionals and weekend warriors don’t let a little weather stand in the way, so they need an autopilot system they can rely on come hell or rough water,” he added.
Advanced features such as Contour Track Steering, Programmable Turn Patterns, Bow Thruster Control, No-Drift Mode and integration via Simrad’s SimNet NMEA 2000®-based CANbus network also make the AP25 Series a popular autopilot for a range of fishing and cruising vessels.
In addition to recognition for its AP25 Series, Simrad also received a Second Place Award in the broadly defined Marine Specialty Category for its revolutionary new WR20 RemoteCommander. This unique handheld device provides for wireless control of an entire suite of Simrad navigation/communications electronics from anywhere onboard. The RemoteCommander received a 2006 NMMA Innovation Award earlier this year at the Miami International Boat Show. |
