Clipper Ventures, the AIM listed international marine events company, has announced an extension of its marketing alliance with WPP-owned sports marketing agency Global Sportnet (GSN) to market the title sponsorship, content and TV rights for the next two editions of the biennial Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.

Clipper Ventures has already worked closely with GSN on its solo round the world yacht race, the VELUX 5 OCEANS. GSN secured VELUX as the title sponsor for the current edition of the 5 OCEANS race.

Commenting on the announcement, William Ward, CEO of Clipper Ventures said “GSN has a track record of unlocking value for us both on the sponsorship and TV distribution side, most notably in the context of our VELUX 5 OCEANS race and we are looking for more of the same. GSN shares our vision for the Clipper race and has a clear mandate to find a title sponsor and to take television distribution to the next level.”

Morgan Chenneour, COO of Global Sportnet added “We are obviously very pleased to have extended our cooperation with Clipper Ventures. The Clipper race is all about ordinary people doing extraordinary things in the context of an established global event with multiple local touch points. As we asserted for the 5 OCEANS race when we were appointed by Clipper to market that some two years ago and, although quite different, the Clipper race is an equally compelling proposition and we are really looking forward to the challenges ahead.”

Last week Clipper Ventures signed up two more yacht sponsors for Clipper 07-08, Uniquely Singapore, backed by Keppel Corporationand Hull & Humber, backed by Yorkshire Forward
