Boat builder news:
New Jersey angler Mike Mazza was the lucky winner drawn from a pool of nearly 6,000 contest entrants and has won a fishing trip for two with popular NASCAR driver Greg Biffle in a contest sponsored by Luhrs Corporation.
The “Hook Up with Greg Biffle” promotion began in January, 2006. Contestants completed entry cards through October 31 at their local Luhrs dealership or at boat shows in which Luhrs dealers participate nationwide. Mazza attended the Atlantic City International Powerboat Show in February, where he filled out his winning contest entry with representatives from local Luhrs dealer Clarks Landing Marina in Pt. Pleasant, NJ. He and a companion of his choice will enjoy a day of fishing on the weekend of December 8 with Biffle aboard a brand new Luhrs 41 Convertible out of West Palm Beach, FL. Luhrs will pay for transportation, lodging and food, plus fishing expenses.
“I remembered registering for the contest, but had kind of forgotten about it,” said Mazza. “I’ve never won anything this big before. I feel fantastic and I’m looking forward to the fishing and the warm weather in Florida!” Mazza, age 60, is an avid fisherman who fishes at least 3-4 times a week. He is a self-employed charter captain who moves boats up and down the East Coast. Mazza follows NASCAR and considers Biffle one of his favorite drivers.
“We are excited for Mike to win the contest and for his opportunity to fish with Greg,” said David Taylor, director of sales and marketing for Luhrs. “Mike is a passionate fisherman and a NASCAR fan, so it’s truly a winning combination.”
Biffle currently spends a lot of his free time fishing aboard his two Luhrs sportfishers – a 41 Convertible and 30 Open. He has made a name for himself on the NASCAR circuit, placing second in overall points in the Nextel Cup series last season. For 2006, he has one win and 14 Top-Ten finishes.
“The trip with the winner of this contest will be a great time to fish on my favorite boat and swap fishing stories,” said Biffle. “I’m looking forward to it!” |
