Boat builder news:

The Whittley Cruiser 550 will replace the now retired Impala 530 as the entry-level model of the Whittley cruising range. Introduced in 2004 as a running mate to the 530, the 550 was inspired by the larger Cruiser 660 from Whittley, Australia’s most respected builder of trailerable family cruisers. It incorporates the functionality and features that have become synonymous with the classic Impala, updated and redefined in the stylish, modern design of the latest Whittley Cruisers.

The 550 was the second boat in the Whittley range to be developed using Computer Aided Design (CAD); the first CAD-developed model being the Voyager 580. With retirement of the Impala model, all but one of Whittley’s cruising boats have been deigned using the CAD system.

Whittley Co-Owner and Managing Director, Neville Whittley, said the Cruiser 550’s unique combination of traditional Whittley qualities and modern design had been key to its success. “We designed this boat as an introduction into the lifestyle of family cruising,” he said. “It is a complete all-rounder, whether you want to fish, ski or just spend a weekend on the water, and the response to it has been overwhelming.

“Our factory is booked to capacity with orders – we can’t build this boat fast enough.”

The 550 is the third most popular boat in the Whittley Cruising range, close behind its big brothers, the Cruiser 660 and Cruisemaster 700. In its two years the 550 has continued to evolve, incorporating new design elements such as an exterior black gel coat panel, new internal upholstery and new exterior detailing.
