Company news:
Mercury Racing, a leading provider of high-performance marine propulsion systems, is pleased to announce that the HP600 SCi sterndrive engine package is now certified for sale in the European Union (EU). The popular engine, packed with Mercury Racing exclusive components, meets the emissions requirements as set forth in the EU RCD 94/25/EC amended by 2003/44/EC. The engine also meets requirements of the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 89/336/EC. Meeting the combination of these directives allows the 600 SCi engine to be CE marked.
The RCD consists of strict regulations for both two-stroke and four-stroke recreational marine engines. Regulations for compression ignition and four-stroke spark ignition engines were initiated on January 1, 2006. Two-stroke engine regulations will be implemented on January 1, 2007.
Mercury Racing’s 600 SCi is the only high-performance marine engine that meets EU emissions requirements for sterndrive engines. The certification expands the availability of the 600 SCi sterndrive engine package to all countries that fall under the EU’s RCD. EU certified 600 SCi engine models are identified with the CE mark.
In addition, OEM boat builders must certify that their boats conform to the RCD noise requirements.
The 600 SCi, first introduced in January 2005, combines the Mercury exclusive Propulsion Control Module (PCM) 07 microprocessor with a 3.3 Liter Lysholm screw type supercharger, roller camshaft and sequential fuel injection for impeccable idle quality, instant throttle response and unmatched performance throughout the engine operating range. The 600 SCi’s use of new PCM idle speed control strategies gives ultra-smooth shifting for the Bravo XR drive.
The PCM 07computer also enables individual cylinder control. This ability to optimize fuel, spark timing and knock control independently for each cylinder enhances engine running quality, performance, fuel economy and durability.
The 600 SCi is accredited by Mercury Racing’s T.E.A.M. (Total Engine Application Management) initiative. The standardized TEAM process ensures proper installation of the engine with factory-specified components, providing maximum performance along with unmatched quality and durability. The 600 SCi will only be sold to OEM boat builders and dealers who agree to the terms of the TEAM accreditation process.
