Company news:

Pilotfish Marine AB. is delighted to announce that C-pod, its innovative web based security management device for boats has been shortlisted by the jury for the coveted Marine Equipment Trade Show DAME Design Award 2006.

The number of entries submitted to the 16th edition of the annual DAME competition was consistent with the record levels attained in the previous three years. Moderation was strict and has resulted in 74 nominated products from 165 entries.

The award is for the best-designed product on show at METS. The show takes place at Amsterdam RAI from November 14-16. The jury will announce the winner of the

DAME Award on November 14 after thorough assessment of the products based on the balance and interaction between overall design, build, functionality and use of materials. Other factors taken into account are originality, ergonomics and price/quality ratio.

Easy to install, C-pod acts as the owners ‘eyes and ears’. Boats can be tracked globally and alarms monitored using data, which is transmitted wirelessly to C-pod’s central server. Owners can monitor and manage their boat using real time data via a personal web portal or mobile phone – location can be plotted, power levels checked and alarm status viewed.

C-pod’s built-in GPS receiver detects if a boat’s position has changed more than 250 metres from its supposed location. If the boat moves outsides its GeoFence full tracking and monitoring of the boat ensues. Unlike other tracking devices, C-pod contains a preinstalled SIM card for global reach at a flat rate. There are no monthly contracts; C-pod comes with 100 free credits and more credits can be purchased on line – rather like a pay-as-you-go phone.
