Association news:

The International Marine Certification Institute (IMCI) announces the launch of its own revolutionary Guided Application System (GAS) software application. The IMCI GAS assists companies applying for CE certification by linking Rules to Application Forms.

"IMCI is a not-for-profit organisation with a lean and effective administration that allows the institute to provide certification services for an excellent cost-benefit ratio," says Ulrich Heinemann, IMCI managing director. “This year we issued our 10.000th certificate and to accommodate the next lot we have set up this modern software system. IMCI GAS will further streamline the increasing number of applications allowing us to stay close to our lean certification process. At the same time it supports our clients with unmatched quick and detailed RCD information.”

The IMCI GAS application is available on- and offline and contains all the RCD related regulations, technical standards and guidance documents. The Application Forms consist of some thirty to forty lines that need to be filled out and they refer straight back to one or more paragraphs in the document jungle of the RCD.

Heinemann says, “The length of the hull, for example, is defined in paragraph 5.2.2 of ISO 8666. Filling out the correct length is essential however do all builders know how to find this paragraph and do they have the latest revision of it? By using IMCI GAS now they can be sure, fill out the form correctly and simply e-mail or fax it. The system saves your forms online so you can fill in the information within a group of people.”

GAS is available for IMCI clients from a light version that is free of charge straight up to a full version for which ISO copyrights need to be paid. IMCI GAS is programmed on the RCD Rulfinder.net database. Rulefinder.net also administers the licenses for GAS. Users can register through the IMCI website.
