Boat show news:
As the European agents for Australian based Marten Yachts, Ancasta will be showcasing the Marten M49, and M67 yachts on Hall 8 Stand 6 at the International Boat Show, Hamburg. Part of an exclusive range, which also includes the Marten 85, the Hamburg show offers a unique opportunity to see details of a Marten 72 Beecom, which is listed for sale with Ancasta, Europe’s largest boat sales network.
With over 30 year’s expertise building race pedigree yachts, Marten has utilised the talents of designers Reichel/Pugh, combined with the technological expertise of SP Systems, to create a range of fast racing yachts that are also designed for family cruising or short handed sailing. Offering top regatta performance with comfortable and safe passage handling, Marten yachts are differentiated from other yachts in their class by the detailed design, construction methods and advanced materials.
The Marten 67 is undoubtedly a powerful yacht, offering a massive 249 square metre (2679 square feet) upwind sail plan with a displacement of 23,300 kg – delivering an impressive displacement to length ratio of 102.51. Combined with Marten’s state of the art engineering and design, innovative hull design, and super strength materials, the Marten 67 is a yacht with race performance that still maintains its strong blue water cruising ability.
With its all carbon construction, the Marten 67 uses precision design to ensure the strands of fibre run exactly along the load lines for maximum strength. Pre preg carbon fibre and foam core construction, engineered into the hull and decks, is designed to out-perform any conventionally used materials. By continuing the carbon fibre and foam cores in the internal bulkhead construction, this adds to the structural integrity of the hull and deck.
Designed for ease of handling as well as performance, the Marten 67 has a lifting hydraulic keel that offers optimal sailing stability as well as enabling access to shallow moorings. A retractable carbon bowsprit enables the gennaker to be easily flown, even with minimal crew. The Marten 67 contains many useful features such as single sheet hydraulic mainsheet system with push button control, self-tacking jib for cruising and 105% blade for racing, foldaway spray dodger, flush carbon hatches, under deck halyard lines and hide away deck cleats. The result is an easy to sail, high performance yacht with exceptionally clean lines. Other innovations include a carbon foldaway anchoring system which is stored away below decks until required, then hydraulically swung into useable position when required, and a fully retractable hydraulic bow thruster for ease of manoeuvrability during berthing without compromising performance when racing.
Below decks, the Marten 67 offers air conditioning and headliner mounted folding plasma displays in the main saloon and master stateroom as options, with a high tech navigation area and well equipped galley. Accommodation entails a double bedded master cabin with ensuite and shower, with two double bed guest cabins. Finally for a quick and safe get away to shore, there’s an opening transom in which to store a 2.8m (9 foot 2 inch) tender which can be launched effortlessly at a moment’s notice.
Where the Marten 67 tops the bill, the Marten 49 offers a more compact but similarly high performance yacht, with a draught of 3.7 m (12.14 foot) with the lifting hydraulic keel enabling shallow water access of just 2.1m (6.89 feet). The Marten 49 also offers a master cabin with double bed, ensuite and shower, and two aft guest cabins both with double bed.
Ancasta will also be offering visitors to the show the chance to purchase a Marten 72, the yacht Beecom. The Marten 72 is designed for the performance-oriented owner who wishes to combine the sparkle of a day sailing yacht with the ability to make fast comfortable blue water passages. Designed first and foremost to be a top performer at regattas, the Marten 72 is built from exotic construction materials normally only seen in the America’s Cup and top racing yachts. The construction utilises the most advanced concepts of pre preg carbon fibre materials, producing a robust, yet ultra-light hull, deck and structure equivalent of round the world racing yachts that Marten Yachts are renowned for. All interior joinery is constructed from lightweight materials carefully selected to meet the highest international standards, creating a practical, functional interior. Machinery and systems are selected for their purpose whilst being sensitive to the handling and performance qualities of the yacht. |
