Biodiversity Minister, Barry Gardiner, will officially launch the National Wildlife Crime Unit at 11am on Wednesday 18th October, at Our Dynamic Earth, Holyrood Road, Edinburgh.

The NWCU is a multi-agency police-led unit, set up to target and disrupt serious wildlife crime on a regional, national and international level.

Speaking at the launch will be: Biodiversity Minister Barry Gardiner, Chief Constable Paddy Tomkins of Lothian and Borders Police, and Mark Fuchter, HM Revenue and Customs.

In the afternoon Barry Gardiner will be making a visit to Edinburgh Zoo, 134 Corstorphine Road, Edinburgh from 1.15pm. Members of the press are invited to a photo call at 3.30pm. The minister will be taking a look at the education, conservation and research programmes at the zoo.
