Chris Parsonage Racing: The damage to the boat, incurred in the race in Plymouth looked far worse than it actually was; the damage was more aesthetic than structural. The sides were in bad shape and the deck was wrecked but luckily we had the expertise in Plymouth to repair it. Ian Page and his team have been looking after the repairs for the past 2 seasons and felt confident that he could re build the boat. We took some patterns from a sister boat to make moulds and then replaced the whole of the deck. Some of the bulk heads had shattered in the crash, but we have also replaced and repaired all of these. The boat is now at the stage where it is about to be painted in the next few days and it will look even better than before. Once the paintwork is finished we have a team of engineers who will re-wire and re-rig the whole of the boat in 8 days as we have to be leaving Plymouth on 25 October to travel to Savona in Italy to ship ready for the races in Dubai on 25 November & 2 December. We hope to get some podium positions in Dubai to make up for the year and get some more silverware for our trophy cupboard! More pictures of the crash can be seen in the BYM Photo Gallery. |
