Cruising news:

Residential Cruise Line Ltd., the parent company of The Magellan -- the world's largest private residential cruise ship, announces the expansion of the ship creating twelve additional residences and a new amenity, a world class tennis court. Previously listed at 800 feet/70,000 tons, the Magellan now boasts 860 feet and 72,000 tons of cruising luxury.

The new line-up of residences consist of four one-bedroom, 624 square feet condos with pricing starting at $134,000. Named The Madrid, the one-bedroom condos -- though smaller in scale -- are appointed with the same luxurious amenities found in larger units including plasma screen TVs, custom wood cabinetry and gourmet-quality appliances. In addition to The Madrid, eight additional two-bedroom residences -- The Barcelona -- have been added for homebuyer selection. The Barcelona pricing begins at $156,250.

"We redesigned The Magellan to meet buyer demand," said Randall B. Jackson, president and CEO of Residential Cruise Line Ltd. "The one-bedroom Madrid is perfect for empty-nesters or single adults who enjoy traveling in the lap of luxury but don't require a lot of space. Additional two-bedroom residences were added simply because they are one of our biggest sellers."

In addition to the residences, a US Open-style tennis court has been added to the design of the ship and is slated to be located above the indoor saltwater swimming pool. According to Jackson, the tennis court was added to round out the first-class amenities offered aboard The Magellan. Those amenities include a world-class aqua spa, an observatory, a green house and a 450-seat live, satellite broadcast theatre.
