Coastguard news:

The Coastguard helicopter Oscar Charlie and Coastguard Rescue Teams from Baltasound, Mid Yell and Lerwick are currently conducting a search of Unst, co-ordinated by Shetland Coastguard. The Coastguard search is part of a police led search for a missing 49 year old man.

The man went missing on Sunday night and a search involving Police and Coastguard resources was undertaken throughout yesterday. The search, involving over seventy people, started again this morning, with the same Coastguard resources involved as well as local people.

Neil Cummins, Shetland Coastguard Watch Manager says: "We are very concerned for the safety of this man. He was at his place of work in Baltasound when he went missing. All ferry routes have been checked, but it would seem that he has not left the island.

Therefore, we have been conducting a comprehensive search of the whole of the island in the hope that we will be able to find the missing man. Visibility has been good, although showery with north easterly winds, force 6-7."
