Conference news:
This specialized congress wants to analyze the new trends in the nautical leisure sector (cruise sector included) and will structure its debate on the following main subjects:
Techniques and building materials, Architectural and engineering developments, Evolution of the market and rules, Figures in the sector.
The event, which will take place over two days, aims to gather leading market experts and sectorial operators coming both from the worlds of industry and market from universities and research centres, in order to outline the new technical and technological tendencies of the sector.
The nautical cluster of the Northern Adriatic
As a second step we wish to create a forum to promote exchange of ideas and information between experts and professionals, in order to enhance the Northern Adriatic area as an international pole for the nautical sector. Market experts and regulating bodies will, starting from the assessment of the present situation, define short and long-term goals to keep up with world growth in the field.
The meeting intends to:
Highlight the importance of the nautical sector as an economical driving power for the High Adriatic Sea, Shape the new trends in the field for rules, production and techniques, Help make all the latest known.
What's new in the shipyard
The evolution of nautical recreation legislation. History of Italian laws on nautical recreation, starting from the first reforms and initial disorganization of the sector, up to the latest reforms and the new Code on nautical recreation and the implementation of the regulation, of which the speaker reports the main features.
Dr. Aniello Raiola
ModeFrontier, a multi-objective optimization and design environment for Yacht Design applicationsOptimization in industrial design is a complex and multifaceted problem, which can be solved by ModeFRONTIER . Three examples of the use of this software.
Eng. Matteo Ledri
Holistic ergonomics applied to industrial design
Use of innovative ergonomic technology for yacht building with a penta-sensorial system, based on the human cognitive processes, which adapts to the user's specific needs.
Prof. Franco C Grossi
Sail and motor multihulls in recreational crafts
Comparison between the design of a motor and a sail catamaran, with an eye on stability, resistance to motion and specific characteristics of catamarans
Eng. Roberto Prever
Hydrodynamic and technological developments in modern fast catamarans
Catamarans hold a prominent position among fast boats because of the many advantages they offer, despite of their low staying power. The University of Trieste has designed appendixes in order to overcome this problem.
Prof. Igor Zotti
Characterisation of sail boats aerodynamics through tests in a Wind Tunnel
Description of tests on sails performed in wind tunnel and presentation of the new technology developed by the author at the Polytechnic of Milan. The technology takes into account the actual conditions of the boat's trim
Prof. Fabio Frossati
Online service for yacht designers and sailmakers
A low cost online service that can be used by medium and small size firms for the simulation of flows around the ship's bottom, appendixes and sails, and for performance forecasts
Eng. Mauro Poian
The perception of noise and vibrations on board. Hints on understanding this phenomenon
On recreational boats, the first necessity is comfort. Optimizing the well being of passengers within the limits set both by rules and technical necessities, in order to minimize noises and vibrations.
Prof. Eng. Marco Biot, Eng. Francesco de Lorenzo
Experiences of the application of the infusion technique in the nautical sector
In agreement with the laws for the environment and on the protection of the workers from chemical risks, the Polytechnic of Milan suggests the infusion technique, presenting designs and tests that have been applied to it.
Arch. Andrea Ratti
Low environmental impact in composite boat production
Research looks for a compromise between low environmental costs and the quality of the product, as a multidimensional problem.
Eng. Alberto Cimadoro
The development of velocity prediction software for sail yachts
Presentation of the development of velocity prediction programs and of their use, with special attention to sail yachts. Varius use of VPP, from a general use to specific projects.
Dr. Davide Battistin
Design analysis and multi-objective structural optimisation of a sailing boat in composite material by ESAComp – ANSYS - modeFRONTIER integration
Presentation of two integrating softwares, ESAComp and ANSYS, for the program modeFRONTIER and their use in the analysis and planning of a sailing boat’s hull. With the two softwares, modeFRONTIER optimizes the planning process in both its objectives and its constraints.
Eng. Vito Primavera; Francesco Micchetti
Evening Conference:
From quinqueremi to liburnae.
Examples of technological innovation and technology transfer in ancient Rome.
Historical Presentation:
The development of the art of the fabri navales begins with the introduction of the quinqueremi, during the first Punic war, and stems from the use of the enemy's technology. Similarly, further innovations are introduced after clashes with pirates and the Liburnians: after them the Romans later named their war vessels
