Herman Hell: After overall eight races in the HSH Nordbank blue championship at Bornholm and seven qualification events this season in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Germany “Data Communication” is now “North European IMS Champion 2006”. The Swedish IMS boat ends with four first places in the fleet of 14 boats on the podium. With a lot points from the qualification and a good performance in Allinge “Du Soleil” (Ingvar Hertzman/Sweden) came in second and “Ocean Warrior” (Sverre Valeur/Norway) third. “We are very happy to win the title. Sailing here was great. It is only little bit sad, that the “Yugtranzit” (RUS) was not in the race anymore, after they hit a rock in the long distance race in the beginning of the HSH Nordbank blue championship. They beat us at the world championship this year and we hoped to beat them here”, explained “Data Communication” navigator Ralf Aspoholm and helmsman Björn Österberg told the secret of their success: “Before every race we start very early with our preparation. We check the wind and the startingline double and twice, while the other crews take their break. And for sure it is good to have Matt Humphries on Bord. He has the experience of five volvo ocean campaigns and makes all the tactical things on our boat.” For Sverre Valeur (Norway) and his “Ocean Warrior” Crew it was a hard work to come on the podium in Bornholm. In most of the races the swedish fleet with “Data Communication”, “Du Soleil” (Ingvar Hertzmann), “HQ Bank” (Eskil Degsell) and Peter Rudbäck and his chartered “Wolfpack Al Cap One” sailed in front of Valeur. But he collected enough points in the qualification and came in third. The performance of “Wolfpack Al Cap One” (Sweden) during the HSH Nordbank blue championship became better and better. One win and a second place on the last day were recompense for Peter Rudbäck and his crew. “The boat was complete new for us, so it took time to find out how we can sail it fast”, Rudbäck stated at the prize giving. “Eight races in four days, including the long and the short offshore, and all courses perfect to the wind. My congratulation to Eckart Reinke and his team on the starting vessel. And thank you to everybody from the Kieler Yacht-Club (KYC), from Kongelig Dansk Yachtklub (KDY) and from the Kungliga Svenska Segel Sällskapet (KSSS) for the perfect organisation of this event”, announced Sverre Valuer (Norway) in the name of all Sailors of the HSH Nordank blue championship.
