Hermann Hell: With four wins in the up and down race on Saturdays racing at HSH Nordbank blue championship in Allinge/Bornholm the “Data Communication” took the lead ahead of “Du Soleil” (Ingvar Hertzmann/Sweden) and “HQ Bank” (Eskil Degsell/Sweden). As well Peter Rudbäck (Sweden) with the chartered “Al Cap One” came in fourth overall. So the swedish IMS boats are the strongest in the fleet of now 12 boats from nine nations. “Maybe it is while we are preparing ourselfs very early before each race. When the other crews takes their break between two races, we start to check the wind and the startingline”, explained Bjoern Oesterberg, helmsman of the “Data Communikation”, one part of the succesfull days for his crew at the HSH Nordbank blue championship. The other part on bord of the Sinergia 40 ist Matt Humphries who is making the tactics. Humphries with the expierience of five volvo ocean races and joined the “Data Communication” Crew for this event. “The landscape like sardinia with sun and perfect winds and a harbour like cowes. It is great to be in Allinge on Bornholm”, stated Ecki von der Mosel from the HSH Nordbank blue championship organisation team. The IMS fleet of now 12 boats found today giant weather conditiones with southerly winds of 12 knots in their four races. First starting gun was shot at 10:30 am by race officer Eckart Reinke and the last one at 3 pm. So it was a tough day for the competitors, at least for the “Pallas” from Poland, which is the with 24 feet the smallest boat in the fleet. “Tomasz Konnak and his crew haven’t got the time for any sandwich between the races”, Ecki von der Mosel excuses the tough schedule. On Sunday there will be two more races before at 4 pm the „North European IMS Champion“ will maybe a swedish crew.
