Product news:
Ampair launches its new free standing stern mount system for their Ampair 300 micro wind generator at Southampton Boat Show.
Ampair has been the choice of the global yachting community since 1974. With this long legacy the company truly understands the need for strength and reliability and the demands and restrictions that yachtsmen face in the marine environments where its products are used.
A well designed and engineered wind turbine like the Ampair 300 needs an equally well engineered mounting system to bring out the best in the turbine. Traditional wind turbine mounting systems pose problems fitting to modern backstay systems. A radical re-design was needed and Ampair set out to work with Scanstrut, specialist manufacturers of mounting systems, to produce a new generation, free standing stern mount system.
The system comes in kit form and consists of a 2.5m long, 3” diameter aluminium, white powder coated pole which accepts the spigot of the generator. The base has a universal ball and socket for easy mounting to any deck angle on the stern of the yacht. Two adjustable stainless steel bracing struts clamp to the pole at their upper ends and mount to the deck at their lower ends. These resist the thrust and inertial loads of the wind turbine. A stainless steel guardrail bracing strut is also included.
Built to withstand the rigours of the world’s oceans, the Ampair Scanstrut free standing stern mount system is available from Ampair or its overseas distributors. |
