Marina news:
The legendary Chub Cay Marina & Resort unveiled “Chub Cay Blue,” a monumental bronze sculpture of a leaping blue marlin that will serve as a symbol of the island’s rich history as a fishing paradise.
Sculptor Kent Ullberg, widely recognized as one of the leading wildlife sculptors in the world, created Chub Cay Blue. The 18-foot-high, 3,000-pound leaping blue marlin stands tall upon its 15-foot pedestal base overlooking the new multi-million dollar marina in the Bahamas.
“Chub Cay Blue” represents the rebirth of the legendary Chub Cay,” said Kaye Pearson, Chairman of Chub Cay Associates. “It is a welcoming symbol that embodies the endurance, elegance and allure of the island with its white sand beaches and spectacular fishing.”
Ullberg’s creation took eight months to complete. Once finished, it was shipped to Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. It was then loaded onto a World War II-type landing craft and taken to its final destination – Chub Cay.
“The awe-inspiring size and beauty of the sculpture creates a sense of grandeur upon first sight as one enters the marina,” said Pearson. “Many boaters are making special plans to visit the island just to see Chub Cay Blue.”
New marina serving yachts up to 200’
The new, expanded multi-million dollar marina recently opened accommodating yachts up to 200’. While construction and renovations on the island continue, including the new clubhouse and villas, the marina will be fully operational. Fuel is readily available and customs/immigration is easily accessible upon entry. While on the island, visitors can enjoy Bahamian dining at the well-known Harbor House, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Chub Cay…Love of the sea and all things natural
Located at the southernmost tip of the Berry Islands, Bahamas, Chub Cay is, perhaps, the most magnificent of the Out Islands with its white sand beaches, a blue sea so brilliant it defies description and a sense of tranquility only found in the islands. Chub Cay will offer and preserve a lifestyle that revolves around a love of the sea and all things natural. Heir to a legacy of privilege and privacy, Chub Cay offers spectacular offshore fishing for billfish, wahoo, dolphin and kingfish plus miles of flats fishing for bonefish and permit. |
