Boat show news:
International water sports exhibition with German Championship in the Match Race and Ladies Match Cup
In autumn, Friedrichshafen will once again be focussing on water sports: The INTERBOOT 2006, which is taking place from 23rd September to 1st October, is the first in a series of German boat exhibitions; the central focus will be the innovations for the 2007 season. The 45th International Water Sports Exhibition underscores the sporting aspect of the event with top quality sailing regattas and the motorboat Liquid Quarter Mile race in the INTERBOOT harbour.
The Match Race sailors will be competing for the German championship at the international water sports exhibition. This is the 2nd time since 1998 that this event is being held at Lake Constance. The sailors can also qualify via the regatta for the Match Race Germany 2007 in Langenargen which is a World Championship race.
The international female sailing elite will be setting sail in the Ladies Match Cup. The event, which has 10,000 Euro prize money, is the only Ladies grade 1 regatta (highest class of the world association ISAF) in Germany. The INTERBOOT Trophy is also taking place for the second time – around 120 boats are expected.
The motorboats will also be sprinting across the lake: The Liquid Quarter Mile race, which took place very successfully for the first time last year, will also be held again this year in front of the Friedrichshafen promenade; in 2005 the event was watched by thousands of water sports enthusiasts.
Around 550 exhibitors will be participating in the nine days of the INTERBOOT 2006 to showcase the trends and innovations of the upcoming season. The largest shipyards will be presenting their latest sailing and motorised yachts. Visitors can also look forward to the maritime travel market with the partner regions Ibiza/Formentera, the diving centre and many other events on the exhibition lake. Around 100,000 visitors are expected. |
