Company news: Due to the continued success of these epoxy workshops, covering many marine applications and basic handling techniques Wessex Resins is delighted to announce the dates for this seasons Beginners’ Courses and Fibreglass Boat Repair Courses. 5th October 2006, 7th October 2006, 28th October 2006, 9th November 2006 & 25th January 2007. The beginners’ course includes a brief history of epoxy technology, the advantages of using epoxy in the marine environment and highlights the benefits of WEST SYSTEM products for all types of applications. The course provides hands on experience in using epoxy. Everyone attending will be able to mix as much epoxy as they like and have the opportunity to experiment with the entire range of WEST SYSTEM fillers for bonding, gap filling, filleting and fairing. In addition, delegates will have the opportunity to coat and sheath using WEST SYSTEM epoxy and fibreglass fabrics and to utilize their new skills and build their very own toolbox and take home over £50 of WEST SYSTEM materials. 30th November 2006 & 2nd December 2006. The Fibreglass Boat Repair course includes a short overview of WEST SYSTEM products and an introduction to basic application techniques. Common repairs and maintenance to fibreglass boats using WEST SYSTEM products is then covered in greater detail. Topics include: repairing damaged hulls; coating and sheathing and the prevention and treatment of osmotic blistering. As with the beginners’ course, delegates will be able to mix as much epoxy as they like and gain plenty of ‘hands-on’ experience by becoming involved in the fibreglass boat repair demonstrations. This will consist of repairs to fibreglass panels, both single skin and cored/sandwich and allow users to try their hand at anti-osmosis coating. Sections taken from fibreglass dinghies are used for demonstrations, so delegates are able to see how “real life” repairs to boats are completed. Each delegate will take home over £50 of WEST SYSTEM materials. These courses are provided by the Wessex Resins Technical Support Group. There is an open forum at the end of the day that allows the WEST SYSTEM users to ask specific questions regarding the use of epoxy for the construction, repair and maintenance of their own boats. It will also give rise to some general epoxy/boating discussions. These courses become over subscribed very quickly and it is therefore essential to book early. |
