At least 10 people are reported to have died and many properties have been destroyed at Java’s Pangandaran beach, after a two metre tsunami crashed through the resort. The wave followed an earthquake of 7.2 on the Richter scale, which was followed by an after shock measuring 6.1

All houses on the beach are reported to have been destroyed and hotels are seriously damaged. Some houses were devastated by boats crashing into them.

Indonesian Transport Minister, Hatta Radjasa, has urged those on Java's south coast to move inland and both Japan’s Meteorological Agency and the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center have issued warnings of a further tsunami affecting Australia's Christmas and Cocos islands.
