Company news:
Bruno Peyron and his crew on the maxi catamaran, Orange II, are celebrating today after smashing the World 24-hour sailing record twice in two days running. Setting out from New York last Sunday in an attempt to break Playstation’s Atlantic record, Peyron and his crew set a new 24 hour speed record by covering 752 miles in day one and then proceeded to better that record, just a day later, by clocking up 755 miles in one day.
At the second comparison point, Bruno Peyron's crew had a lead of almost 200 miles over Steve Fossett's PlayStation, which holds the record with a time of 4 days, 17 hours, 28 minutes and six seconds.
Hopes are high that the weather will stay favourable to allow Orange II to reach the finishing line, off The Lizard at the south-western tip of Britain by 0427 GMT on Friday 7th July.
Bruno and his crew are well equipped for the voyage, having chosen Henri Lloyd GORE-TEX Ocean suits and Mid Layers to keep them dry and allow them to achieve maximum performance in Atlantic conditions. |
