Boat show news:

Something special is on the horizon for the fifth anniversary celebration of the New York New Jersey International Boat Show. This year’s event in Liberty State Park, Jersey City, New Jersey presents a show within a show with the return of Sail Expo. A premier fleet of sleek and gleaming sail boats, masts rising tall and ready will be docked along-side the always impressive display of power boats from the world’s most popular builders. The 2006 show will be held September 28 thru October 1 and showcases the best in power, sail and gear.

It will become readily apparent that this is a multi-dimensional boat-show with something for the entire family from the very first. From the entrance into the park visitors will be treated to a scenic mile-long drive winding toward the world-class Liberty Landing Marina and the backdrop of Manhattan’s spectacular skyline. The Statue of Liberty is visible through-out the beautifully landscaped grounds like an unchanging navigational aide.

Industry professionals consider the NY NJ International Boat Show—under the capable command of Liberty Event Management, LLC—one of the key shows on the fall boat show circuit in the Northeast. LEM realizes the time is right to reintroduce sailboats, builders and outfitters to a central location in one of the country’s most concentrated populations of sail-boat owners and enthusiasts. Six of the nation’s wealthiest counties are within a 100-mile radius of Liberty Landing Marina.

Paul Duggan of Sail Time; the global leader in fractional sailing and power yachts and Sail Expo exhibitor said, “Sail Expo at The NY NJ International Boat Show is the only on-water boat show in the New Jersey/New York City area that has a special section dedicated to sailing. Sail Expo will deliver to the sailors in this area all the sailing information that fuels their passion and I cannot think of a better venue then Liberty Landing Marina at Liberty State Park for this event!”

The show’s late September date falls between two other popular sailing industry shows—The Newport RI International Boat Show and the U.S. Sailboat Show in Annapolis MD. Sail Expo 2006 at the NY NJ International Boat Show provides an opportunity to market sail boats and related products in a significant and established venue in addition to the Annapolis Show and the Newport Show.

New York is a favorite lay-over for exhibitors at these shows. At that time of year, the area is also a popular stopping point for cruisers making their fall migrations from New England to the Chesapeake Bay. The 1,000-slip Liberty Park Marina is a short run to the Hudson River providing easy access for cruising buyers to view the latest in boats and equipment. The marina is protected and has deep water dockage for yachts up to 175 feet.

The wealth of navigable water in the area is popular with sail boaters as well as power boat owners, and the Liberty Landing Marina in Liberty State Park is a prime boat show location. Larchmont, City Island, Stamford, and Glen Cove are within a 50-mile radius of the show. Sailing enthusiasts in the coastal towns of New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and nearby shoreline communities have a straightforward journey to the show. Just over a mile from the city with millions of daily commuters, the venue is easy to get to by land or water. It is an 8-minute ferry ride from Battery Park and 6 miles from Newark Airport. NJ Transit has a light rail system that runs directly to Liberty Park and connects with all major transportation including the PATH train from NYC and Newark.

Sponsors and exhibitors favorably endorse the impressive indoor sections of the show housed in over 40,000 square feet of expandable clear span tents. The area is completely enclosed and carpeted and provides unlimited indoor vendor space. No other in-water show has the equivalent for indoor boat displays as well as the excellent layout for outdoor land and water displays. Major sponsors already on board include BP/ Amoco, American Express and General Electric.

Two major docks are dedicated to the Sail Expo and expansion space is available. The area will be designated with attention-grabbing signage and special flags as well as the highly visible rise of masts and rigging. In-water sail exhibitors receive a 20% discount and receive 50 free admission tickets for each sailboat they bring. Booth exhibitors (Sail products only) will receive 20 free tickets to give to clients/ prospects. Buyers will have an opportunity to tune their interests during on-site sailing seminars.

Liberty Event Management, LLC is the sure and steady hand responsible for steering the show to its designation as a “must attend” venue. The outstanding professional staff is highly committed to the success of the show and VERY serious about building the Sail Expo. In coordination with the considerable marketing dollars typically spent in previous years, the promoters have implemented an effective and aggressive “sail-specific” marketing campaign to inform the sailing public and industry about the opportunity. The phenomenal central location and the show’s timing between the other major venues wrap up a winning combination.

Is your dream sailing around the world, or around the harbor? Do you represent quality marine gear or handle offshore capable cruisers, high performance power, regatta class sail or one-off prestigious luxury yachts? Maybe your passions run toward slicing through the waves at maximum knots with mega horsepower or drifting exploring the river to the silent song of your well-set mains’l. Whether you are an exhibitor or a visitor, sail or power, and whatever the concentration of salt in your veins—you should chart your course to include this celebration and show. Bring your sun-block and your deck-shoes and prepare to cast off with the 5th Annual NY NJ International Boat Show. Welcome aboard!
